Solar panels use energy directly from the sun to power our homes and businesses. Solar energy is used world wide and is becoming increasingly popular for generating energy for heating and desalinating water. There are two main ways of generating solar power:

Photovoltaics (PV), these are what you see when you typically think of solar power. Also known as solar cells, they are the panels you see on homes and calculators. Solar cells operate by converting sunlight directly into energy.

Concentrated Solar Power (CSP), uses mirrors to focus solar rays to heat fluid which produces steam to drive turbines and generate electricity in power plants.
